Last weekend, we headed to Sonoma to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We have stayed in Wine Country a few times over the years, but this was our first time in the charming town of Sonoma. We choose the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn since we had credit card points for a free stay. When we arrived, we were the youngest guests in the lobby by a solid 20 years. But seriously. I am assuming that is because we arrived on a Sunday, after all of the younger, hipper people checked out. At least that’s what we are telling ourselves…
Upon checkin, we were each given a glass of sparkling rose. The rooms, though small, are recently updated and tastefully decorated. The grounds were very pretty, though not as lavish as the two other Fairmont properties we have visited since getting the credit card. We quickly got changed and spent the next couple of hours by the pool. I actually read a novel, a rarity in my everyday life. These days, not much reading gets done unless I am sitting on the beach or by a pool without the kids.
Do not let my summery attire confuse you. While it seems to be fall in many parts of the country, it hasn’t quite gotten to California yet. Well, it depends on the day. Two days after this, it was 49 degrees when I took my kids to school, but it was 85 degrees on the day of this photo shoot, and is supposed to be back to 88 tomorrow. Every day is a new surprise!
We didn’t end up going wine tasting until right before dinner when we had already changed, but I felt that this outfit would have been appropriate if we had. The fun back makes it easy to dress this top up or down, depending on your needs.
It was a lovely, relaxing weekend.
