At the risk of sounding like an old married person, we don’t typically go out on Valentine’s Day for pretty much the same reasons we stay in on New Year’s Eve. Restaurants are crowded, overpriced, and it feels they want to get you out as quickly as possible. And flowers? I love flowers but I tell my husband to do the sensible thing and buy them the day after for a fraction of the price! Ha. I know he loves me, so we might as well save the money! However, I’m not one to pass up a good excuse for a date night, so we usually go out on a different night. This year, we are heading to San Francisco a few days before the holiday. And presents are always welcome, obviously. 😉 I thought it would be fun to share some of my ideas for Valentine’s Day gifts and outfits.
My daytime outfit for Valentine’s will likely include a cute graphic t-shirt and jeans. Who am I kidding, that’s what I wear most of the time! But it’s a good excuse for a new shirt! That type of outfit would also work well if you’re cooking dinner at home. I have one friend who makes heart shaped pizzas for Valentine’s, and another who does breakfast for dinner. I love these ideas!
For going out, I found a cute red peplum top at Nordstrom that would be adorable with jeans, heels, and a leather moto jacket. For a fancier restaurant, my ruched dress and pink sweater from this post or my blue Anthropologie dress from this post would be perfect! I also found a couple of other cute dresses.
We don’t always exchange Valentine’s Day gifts, but if my husband does want to give me a present, here is what I would like (hint hint):
Here are some ideas for him:
What do you have planned for Valentine’s? Do you like to stay in or go out?
