Turtleneck Outfit Ideas

Fashion

30 Jan

I went through an anti-turtleneck phase. Since I tend to run warm, I didn’t think that turtlenecks had a place in my wardrobe. Then there was this one from J.Crew. I’m not sure what happened, but I wound up purchasing three turtlenecks this year! I love their versatility! Today I’m using these purchases to share three turtleneck outfit ideas that could be worn throughout much of the year. The stock isn’t very good on some of the exact items I’m wearing, but I’m linking plenty of similar items so that you can recreate these looks.

1. The short-sleeved mock neck

I found this top last fall at J.Crew. I thought it would be perfect for a causal holiday event with my husband’s company. Since the event was midday and indoors, I knew I didn’t want anything too heavy. Did I mention that there was bowling and pool?! I wanted to look festive but not fancy. I chose dark jeans, did a little front tuck, and finished the look with leopard flats. For a dressier event, this top would be so good with black pants or a pencil skirt!

2. Turtleneck sweatshirt

If there’s ever a good way to wear a turtleneck, sweatshirt form has got to be one of the best! This cozy top is from Madewell and is the perfect cozy piece. I can wear it on a cold day with a light jacket over the top because the cut is slim. I love it here paired with slightly cropped jeans and flats. This turtleneck isn’t particularly long, so it works well with high rise jeans. I actually wrote a whole post about how to style these cropped straight leg jeans here!

3. Chunky turtleneck sweater

This sweater is so good for a cold day! My favorite feature, though, is that it’s made with no wool! I love the marbled texture and soft blue color. It looks great with jeans (my favorite!) but also good with slacks for the office. If I was a stylish traveler, I’d pair it with cozy joggers for the airport. I always intend to look put together and hip for travel but I fear I wind up looking sad and tired instead. Ha!

In most of the country, we have many weeks ahead of us, so I hope you find these turtleneck outfit ideas inspiring and helpful!
