Honestly, the sales this time of year can be downright overwhelming. The whole world has been on sale since before Thanksgiving and budgets have been maxed out for Christmas shopping. Right about now is when I vow to put my spending on hold for a bit. That said, if you got money from Santa or have gift cards burning a hole in your pocket, I do think there are some deals that shouldn’t be missed! I could write a post with hundreds of options from all the different retailers, but I thought a more curated approach would be helpful. Here are seven things you need from the year end sales:
1. This year’s “it” bootie
I get compliments every time I wear these booties. Literally. I bought them over the summer during the Anniversary Sale and I love them so much I just bought them in a second color. This is the first time they’ve been on sale since summer, so if you’ve been eyeing them, now’s the time to pull the trigger. If you prefer a lower heel, this well rated and comfy Sam Edelman option is under $80. These gorgeous Vince booties are at a higher price point, but I can tell you firsthand how comfortable they are! The lines are so pretty too.
2 Anything Free People
Free People has nailed the slouchy but polished look for sure. Their pieces are often oversized, but they have enough structure to show your shape and be flattering. And they sure are cozy! I love this turtleneck, this tunic, and this casual top.
3. A new purse
I purchased my first Rebecca Minkoff bag a few weeks ago and I’m so pleased with it! I’ve always been a fan of her clean lines and fun details. The bag I purchased is unfortunately sold out, but this one is similar and currently on sale for about $125! I also love this Tory Burch crossbody for date night – a bit more of a splurge, but so cute. Or, for an option under $100, check out this beauty.
4. A great pair of jeans
If you’ve followed for for awhile, you probably know that designer denim is my number one recommended splurge item. The fit, the fabric, the wash… worth every penny! And if you can get them on sale like I always do, all the better! The brand I’m wearing in the picture, Mother, was new to me this year. They are super soft, hold their shape well, and they also happen to be my husband’s favorite pair! Snag them at Nordstrom Rack for less than $100 here. Nordstrom has a bunch of great denim in their Half Yearly Sale, but inventory is a bit spotty on the more popular brands so I didn’t want to link to a specific pair. You can check out all the offerings here.
5. Updated loungewear
Considering how much I wear my loungewear, I really should replace it more often. I usually have a couple that I rotate between, but I get bored often! With sale prices this good, you don’t need to feel bad about this kind of investment. I like this lounge set (top and pants) from BP, these UGG slippers (40% off!!), and this robe. I also think this pajama set from Rachel Parcell is a steal – I purchased a similar pair last year and the quality is excellent!
6. A classic coat
OK, so this first option is more trendy than classic, but I can’t stop thinking about it! If you live somewhere cold and can justify the price, please order this reversible leopard puffer and send me a pic. For the rest of us who don’t suffer through actual winters, I think this faux fur trim puffer at just $75 is a great pick. The reviewers love it! I also like this faux leather moto jacket and this soft brushed leopard coat.
7. A cozy throw blanket
We now own three of these super soft throw blankets that are on sale for under $30. Even at full price ($39.50) they are worth it. They wash well and hold up nicely. I would also love to invest in an UGG blanket or Barefoot Dreams throw. But then my boys would fight over who gets to use that one, so maybe I’ll hold off on that for the time being.
I hope this roundup of seven things you need from the year end sales was helpful! And if you are trying not to spend any more money until February, I apologize for tempting you unfairly. 😉 Tomorrow we fly to LA to spend New Year’s with my husband’s grandma. Happy New Year!
