I bought this ruched dress on a recent shopping trip to Nordstrom. I posted a dressing room selfie of this and other spring favorites in a blog post, which you can read here. This dress has been a favorite with fashion bloggers for awhile now. I keep seeing it in my social media feeds. Finally I decided that I should try this ruched dress for myself and see what all the hype is about! I generally don’t gravitate toward such a fitted style, but in this case, it works. The ruching is flattering and the material is extremely soft and stretchy while still providing support. Sold!
This dress is by Leith and it comes in a long sleeve version as well as the tank style. I decided on the tank style so that I can wear it almost all year. Styled with tall boots and a cardigan, it works for winter (well, at least in California). With short booties and a lighter sweater, it works for fall or spring. In summer I would swap out the booties for wedges or even flip flops, depending on how casual you want to be. Versatile pieces like this are great wardrobe staples, and at $56, this one is a good value!
I’ve been eyeing this cute circle cardigan since last summer. I didn’t buy it during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, so when it went on sale again recently, I snatched it up. I love the color and the circle hem. Unfortunately it has a tiny bit of wool in it, so ultimately I don’t think it’s the sweater for me. I can tolerate a bit of wool on a really cold day, but we just don’t get enough of those where I live to justify keeping it.
I picked open toe booties for this shoot because we were in San Diego and the temperatures were so warm. On a colder day, closed toe booties or tall boots would be perfect. I can also see throwing on Converse and a denim jacket and wearing this to the baseball field.
What do you think of this style? Would you try it?
