If you follow me on instagram, you know that we went to the pumpkin patch over the weekend. We thought that perhaps the crowds would have died town two days before Halloween. Nope! Apparently the Bay Area is filled with procrastinators like us! Trying to find a spot to take pictures that wasn’t swarming with people was tricky, but we made it work. As you can see from the mist behind me, our heat wave is officially over. Just in time! The cooler weather means the kids didn’t overheat in their costumes at school today.
Last year we bought our carving pumpkins at Trader Joe’s, but the benefit to a pumpkin patch is the variety of colors and sizes. I chose a couple of decorative pumpkins that will look great on my porch even after Halloween is over. My favorite is the pale orange, pictured above.
You have probably noticed that I’m a huge denim fan, as nearly all of my outfit photos involve jeans. However, I typically find denim shirts a bit stiff and difficult to wear. Then I found chambray! Instead of being 100% cotton, chambray often contains tencel or lyocell, which are forms of rayon. This means the fabric is silky and soft! This type of fabric layers better under sweaters because it isn’t so stiff, and it is much more comfortable! My exact shirt is from last year and I couldn’t find it anywhere, but there are two similar ones currently at Nordstrom, including one by Joie that is marked down from $168 to $68! That is a great price for that brand, and their quality is impeccable.
I like these pants because they have the look of a cargo pant with a flattering slim fit. I paired them with Converse because, well, we were at a pumpkin patch. The shoes are quite dusty now, but thankfully they are machine washable! Problem solved.
Time to finish carving the pumpkins and get ready for trick or treaters! Have a great night!
