Typically I do an overview post talking about what types of purchases I make at the Anniversary Sale. You can see last year’s post here. But this year, I wanted to try something a bit different. Here are my top five tips for shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
1. Build your wishlist now
The digital preview is new for Nordstrom as of last year and it’s a game changer. There is a TON of inventory (more than 2000 items just in women’s clothing!) and it takes me several days to get through all of it. Because I can preview the entire sale digitally, I can do a thorough job of seeing what’s out there, evaluating what I need, and narrowing it down, all before I ever set foot in the store or place an order online.
2. Maximize your double points days
I always schedule a double points day for the first day I can shop in store. Last year, I placed an order for a purse and a Topshop cardigan that I really wanted that morning because I knew they were both at risk of selling out. I missed out on a Clare V crossbody the year before and wasn’t going to let that happen again! Then, when I got home from the mall, I went through my wishlist and ordered anything else I hadn’t seen in store. Did that mean I didn’t shop later in the sale? No, but at least the bulk of my purchases were on my double points day. Winning.
3. Go in store as soon as you are able
The most popular items sell out sometimes before the sale is even open to the general public. If you don’t have a Nordstrom card, I highly recommend it. I am picky about my store cards, but this one has enough perks that it’s worth it. Also, having a store associate at your disposal is so helpful if you are trying to track down certain items that may be in danger of selling out. They can help you search.
4. Have a plan before you start to shop
If you don’t have time to sort through 2000 items, find someone who does! I’ll have a post up in the morning with my top picks from each category, and then another post Thursday with my dressing room selfies. I find that I can keep to my budget if I know ahead of time what might be worthy of splurging and what isn’t worth a second look. Reviews from other bloggers and shoppers are so helpful in this regard!
5. Don’t be afraid to go outside your comfort zone
With great prices on brand new fall inventory, take a chance on something you wouldn’t otherwise look twice at! This polo sweater popped up when I was browsing. It’s different than anything in my closet and I can’t wait to try it on!
Make sure you follow me on instagram as I’ll be doing dressing room stories Wednesday evening. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions about specific items, sizing, etc. I hope you’re able to take advantage of these five tips for shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
