We were supposed to be in Spain this year for the 4th of July. After I unexpectedly lost my mom in April (you can read the full post here), I felt like I wanted to shorten the trip. I need some time at home to enjoy summer, a break from the routine of school, and to just breathe. Thankfully, we were able to change our outgoing flights for a fairly small cost. This metallic stars t-shirt would be the perfect understated way to celebrate the 4th in Europe, am I’m definitely planning to wear it here at home! There is a parade in our neighborhood in the morning and then we will probably barbecue at home after it’s over.
This metallic stars t-shirt is a bestseller at J.Crew, and I can see why. The stock changes constantly, so if you can’t find your size, keep checking back! Their t-shirts are good quality at a reasonable price point. I like the super soft fabric and it seems to hold up despite being fairly thin. I did size up in this one for a slightly more relaxed fit. I’m normally a small but wearing a medium here.
These shorts were an impulse purchase after finding them for less than half price at a store called Blue and Cream. Given how much I love my other pair of Rag and Bone shorts (purchased at Nordstrom Rack), I thought I would give these ones a try. I took a chance with the sizing though. I had to size down in my other Rag & Bone shorts because they are a relaxed boyfriend fit. This pair is my normal size because they didn’t have the next size down in stock. I figured the worst case would be that they just sat a little low on my hips. They actually fit really well and I’m happy I went with my normal size! I like that they are slightly longer in the back.
I purchased gold Reef flip flops last year and they’ve been a great investment. However, the light colored sole means they get dirty quickly and aren’t looking quite as fresh as they once were. When J.Crew had 30% off everything a couple of weeks ago, I ordered these sandals for $35. The sole is leather which means they clean easily and I think they will look nice for a long time.
We are flying home from Boise today and it’s been such a great trip. Shortening our time in Spain allowed us to take this trip, and I am glad we were able to do so. It seems surreal that we leave next week for Spain! I can’t wait. What are you most looking forward to this summer?
