The last three days have consisted of lots of time outdoors. Friday, I spent much of the day at the Walk a Thon at my boys’ school. When I was a kid, it was called a Jog a Thon. Remember that?? These days, there is apparently too much danger in running because it is no longer allowed. Volunteering at an event such as this requires the ability to work quickly while tons of kids are swarming around you. A layered look is perfect! You also need comfortable shoes.
I own these Converse tennis shoes in three colors because I love them so much. The other colors I own are white and pale grey, neither of which I thought was wise considering how many times I would probably get stepped on. Good call. The shoes held up and they still look decent in spite of being trampled by a few overly eager speed walkers. The speed walking, by the way, was hilarious to watch.
First thing in the morning, it was too cold for just a t shirt. I wanted an outer layer that I could tie around my waist when it warmed up so that it didn’t get lost or forgotten. I discovered the Rails brand of flannel shirts a couple of years ago. The regular price is pretty high for a flannel, but I’ve purchased both of mine from Amazon. As with many clothing items, they tend to offer older colors for significantly reduced prices. What I like about the Rails shirts is that they are rayon, not cotton. Because of this, they are super soft, hang nicely, and they wash well. I usually smooth out the collar and pocket area when it is still wet, and then it doesn’t need to be ironed after it’s done line drying.
My jeans are my all time favorites, 7 For All Mankind. They feel more like loungewear than jeans, yet I look more pulled together than if I was wearing yoga pants. Don’t get me wrong, I have no issue with the athleisure trend. My personal preference is to wear workout clothes when I am headed to or from a workout, and regular clothes the rest of the day. Fortunately, these jeans are so soft that you can hardly tell you are wearing them. I always choose this pair of jeans to travel in because they are soft, stretchy, and comfy. These particular distressed jeans have patches behind the distressing. This might be a good option if you are wanting to try the distressed jeans trend but aren’t sure about the holes. The boyfriend style isn’t as slim as a skinny jean, and it has a flattering straight leg.
The rest of our weekend was spent at soccer, soccer, and more soccer. Today we watched the San Jose Earthquakes, our local professional soccer team, secure a spot in the MLS playoffs. It was quite exciting! I hope your weekend was fun and relaxing too!
