High Waisted Jeans

Fashion

17 Jan

If you’ve been paying any attention to my posts, you’ve probably noticed that a lot of my clothes come from Nordstrom. Since I love them so much, I decided to give Trunk Club a whirl. Trunk Club is similar to Stitch Fix in that you enter your sizes and preferences and a stylist puts together a package of items you might like, but all of the clothes are from Nordstrom. I got my first trunk this week, and my stylist included this pair of high waisted jeans from Madewell. In case you missed it, you can read about my experience with Stitch Fix here.

I was in college when high waisted jeans began to go out of fashion, and to be honest, I wasn’t sorry. A lower rise is generally flattering for anyone who has hips like me. I also find them more comfortable because the waist hits below your stomach. A few years and two children later, I now appreciate the value of a high waisted jean. I bought my first pair last year, but the rise of those AG Farrah jeans feels much lower than these high waisted jeans from Madewell! You can see how I styled my AG Farrah jeans in this post.

This is my first pair of Madewell jeans and I have to say, I’m pleasantly surprised! I like Madewell’s style and quality but had never tried their denim. The fabric is super soft and the fit is great. The price point ($128) is lower than many of my favorite designer jeans, making them an appealing option. I love the color too. And look! No distressing. Ha.

The other benefit to high waisted jeans is that the sweater I’m wearing would not be wearable with a different pair of jeans, unless you don’t mind showing off your stomach. I have a fairly short torso but even on me, this chenille sweater is barely long enough! The sweater was another Trunk Club find. The color is beautiful and I think the tiered ruffles on the sleeves are so fun. Since it’s chenille, it’s very soft and cozy!

I choose my Steve Madden shoes with the poof to add another fun, whimsical detail to the outfit. Tall brown boots or booties would be great with this outfit too. My stylist sent a beautiful pair of Sam Edelman boots that I loved, but unfortunately she sent the wide calf version by mistake and they didn’t work. I’m tempted to order them in the right size. They are gorgeous in person!

I’ll be sharing more of my Trunk Club finds in the coming weeks. If you are looking for a way to build your wardrobe with some focused help from a stylist, I highly recommend giving it a shot! My stylist asked me a lot of questions before putting together this trunk, and she definitely nailed my style while also sending me some things I wouldn’t have otherwise tried. Nordstrom’s customer service is unparalleled, and they always offer free shipping and free returns with no minimum purchase. You can sign up using my referral link here.

What do you think of the high waisted jeans trend?
