I don’t know about you, but this week has completely gotten away from me and I feel like I’ve been scrambling to keep up. I had a fever earlier in the week that flattened me for two days. Though I am thankful I was able to rest a bit while the boys were at school, I wasn’t planning on taking two days off from life! The second half of the week has been unusually full of school activities, which is always fun. However, necessary things like grocery shopping and folding clothes have fallen off the radar. Oops. There’s always next week, right? As I write this, I have dinner cooking in the crockpot, so I’ll call that a win! It seems particularly insulting to be sick when it’s hot outside. I have been looking wistfully at all the posts and pictures of fall outfits, but since that’s not my reality here in California, I might as well enjoy this last bit of warm weather while I can! I’m sure soon enough it will be raining and I’ll be longing for these beautiful, sunny days.
This dress is from Old Navy and I own it in two colors. You can’t go wrong with a neutral like grey, though I also have blue and white striped, which is fun. Similar to a shift dress, this swing style is flattering and easy. The fabric is a nice cotton knit that is very soft. If you want a more casual look, you can ditch the necklace (or wear a simpler one) and put on some flat sandals. Not surprisingly, the sleeveless version of this dress is almost sold out, but there is a long sleeved version that I’ve linked below.
I found this necklace on Etsy over the summer and it’s quickly become a new favorite. I tend to be pretty simple when it comes to my jewelry, largely because I’m lazy. Ha. But if anything, I will grab a necklace and add it to my outfit. It’s quick and easy, and does a lot to pull a look together. I only have one color of this Etsy necklace but I seriously want at least three more. I like that is has a big visual impact but is simple in its design. It looks as good with jeans and a t shirt as it does with this dress.
I also styled this dress for cooler weather, since many of you are enjoying fall weather. I chose these neutral Lucky booties and linked this year’s version below. On a cooler day, this dress would be cute with tall boots. This cardigan is my favorite short cardigan. I had a similar cardigan from Urban Outfitters several years ago, and then of course by the time I needed to replace it, it had been discontinued. Don’t you hate it when that happens? I searched and searched and found this one at Modcloth. The one I’m wearing is at least two years old and it has held up beautifully. The necklace is old Stella & Dot, but I’ve linked a couple other pendant necklaces that would work well with the dress.
We are thinking of heading to the pumpkin patch this weekend. Better late than never! Do you have any fun plans?
