Although I love the sequin dress from my post earlier this week, my New Year’s Eve plans are more likely to include an outfit like this one. We will make a fancy dinner at home, so don’t you think the occasion calls for fancy shoes? I bought these gold peep toe heels last year for a holiday party, and although they were a splurge, I figured that I would get a lot of use out of them. I chose a simple black dress for that party, and loved that the dress was a blank canvas to show off shoes and accessories. The shoes were my favorite part of the outfit! Paired with jeans, on the other hand, these shoes are the perfect choice for a casual holiday party, a date night, or even a dinner party at home.
The shoes are made by Kate Spade, who is my favorite purse designer. Her handbag styles are classic and timeless, and the same is true for these shoes! I like that the heel is 3 inches (it sounds high but believe it or not, most heels are even higher these days!) and the peep toe allows you to show off your winter pedicure. I think that heels with jeans is such a cute and sophisticated look! I wear jeans almost every day, but the addition of a sparkly shoe like this one makes me feel like I’m ready for a night out. Clearly I’m not heading to soccer practice in these beauties! 😉
My AG jeans are the first pair of high rise jeans that I’ve owned in years. I was such a fan of the low rise trend when it emerged many years ago, and I thought it was terrible when mid and high rise styles starting coming back into the stores. However, as it turns out, there is a time and place for everything. I’m not going to convert my entire denim collection to high rise, but I do appreciate the cleaner lines of a higher rise, especially with a more fitted shirt. What’s not to love about jeans that make you look flatter in the midsection?!
This shirt is several years old from Banana Republic, but I have linked some similar current options below. The same is true for my necklace. My clutch was passed down to me from my great grandmother. I love that it’s still perfectly on trend despite the passage of many years! And it’s fun to know I’m not the first woman in my family to use and enjoy it.
Here’s hoping your holiday plans include at least one night in something sparkly!
