Five Reasons to Try MM.LaFleur Workwear

Believe it or not, one of the things I miss most about practicing law is the clothes. I know, I know. Such a predictable thing for a fashion blogger to say. Ha! My job required business casual attire, and I enjoyed the chance to dress up every day. What I did not enjoy, however, was the time it took to build a professional wardrobe. When I learned about MM.LaFleur, a personalized styling service focused on workwear, I thought it was an ingenious way to help women with a busy lifestyle. I am so very impressed! Here are my top five reasons why you too should try MM.LaFleur workwear.

1. You get a personal stylist, but there is no styling fee.

When you sign up to receive a Bento Box, you will be asked to fill out a Bento Box Survey. The survey does not take much time, but it helps your stylist get to know you and your style. Each Bento Box is hand selected for you based on your style and preferences. MM.LaFleur is not a subscription service, which means you can request a Bento at any time, but they aren’t going to send you one unless you ask. There is also no styling fee, so if for some reason you don’t like any of the 4-6 pieces they send you (highly doubtful, in my opinion!), you can send it all back and they won’t charge you a thing. Essentially, you have nothing to lose!

2. MM.LaFleur’s process is uniquely flexible.

I love that all of their inventory is available online. You can give your stylist some input about the pieces that you like, or leave the selection entirely up to them. Don’t want a Bento? You can purchase pieces directly from the website, with stylists available by phone, chat, or email for any questions you might have. It’s totally up to you! In my case, I gave my stylist a list of pieces from each category that caught my eye, and she did the rest. She put together all of the looks and chose the pieces best suited to me, my body type, my needs, and my style.

3. The clothes are absolutely beautiful.

The tailoring is impeccable, the fabrics are gorgeous, and the fit is amazing. There are seams in all the right places. There is enough structure to create shape, but not so much that the pieces are uncomfortable or difficult to wear. I can’t say enough about how impressed I am with the look, quality, and fit of each of the MM.LaFleur workwear pieces that I received.

4. Most of the pieces are machine washable.

That’s a game changer! In addition to the cost of dry cleaning, it is also a huge hassle. I usually just throw my dry cleaning items in a basket and forget about them. Eventually, the situation becomes dire because I need something in the basket, and I’m forced to take the clothes to the cleaners. But remembering to pick them up when they are ready? That’s a whole other issue. Every single piece that I’m wearing is machine washable, with the exception of the jardigan. That’s amazing!

5. MM.LaFleur has its own label.

Unlike other similar companies, MM.LaFleur has an in-house design team. This means that they have complete control over quality, workmanship, fabrics, etc. It also makes it very easy to mix and match their pieces, because they are designed with flexibility and coordination in mind. Although my navy jardigan and pencil skirt are different fabrics, they can be worn together beautifully as a suit. I love the jardigan as an alternative to a blazer! And, the sizing is consistent so you don’t have to worry about the inevitable variation among brands.

I am so pleased with what I got and I know I will get a lot of wear out of each of these pieces. The dresses are timeless and elegant and I plan to wear the red one to my birthday dinner later this month. I’m imagining pairing the patterned blouse and blue jardigan with white jeans and wedges. The ivory sleeveless top will go with just about anything, as will the black pants. In fact, I specifically requested black pants because they are such a versatile item that my closet was lacking.
