Does anyone remember when faux leather was called pleather? Pleather! As in plastic leather?! I have no idea how that term originated, but for sure that was not the best marketing strategy. I thought it was hilarious when instead it began to be called vegan or faux leather. Turns out that’s a much better strategy, though. While I wouldn’t have looked twice at pleather, I now own a faux leather jacket and these faux leather pants. Ha!
Take a look at the texture on these pants. Looks pretty authentic, right? I have found that the overall look and quality seems to vary quite a bit, so if you would like to try a pair, you might have to order a few before finding a pair that you love. I debated for several months before buying these Trouvé leggings last summer during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I ordered two other pairs when I bought these ones, and one of them was much too shiny for my taste. The other was cute, but the waistline was structured like a pair of jeans and I didn’t want the extra bulk of a zipper and button. Though the price point is a bit higher, I have also heard excellent things about the Spanx faux leather leggings. The Spanx brand is known for being very supportive and flattering, and the reviews on this pair are great.
This outfit would have looked cute with black jeans too, but the leather look elevates the outfit and dresses it up a bit. If I switched out the booties for heels, I could easily wear this to a holiday party. I would also love to style the pants with a dressier top, but I don’t have one that is long enough to cover my bum! Not yet, anyway.
Turtlenecks are not usually my thing, mainly because I run warm and a tight neck makes me feel strangled when I get hot. Fortunately, the fabric of this one is lightweight and the neck is not too tight. Because this pant is almost like a legging in terms of coverage, I prefer to wear them with a longer top. Tunics are quite popular this year, so although my exact one is sold out, I found an almost identical turtleneck that has the same side slit detail.
Because the color palette is neutral, I added some shine with this pendant from Stella & Dot. This was one of the first purchases I made from Stella & Dot, and I sure have gotten my money’s worth! It goes with absolutely everything, and it is the perfect weight and length. My booties are another wardrobe staple. The heel height is moderate, which means it’s easy to walk or chase kids, depending on what your life requires. I love how the zippers are on an angle, which sets them apart from a lot of other booties on the market.

Any pants that look cute but have an elastic waistband are a winner in my book! ;). Thanks for stopping by!
