Drop Shoulder Sweater

Fashion

9 Feb

drop shoulder sweatshirtThe problem with shooting on location (San Diego, in this case) is that you are limited to what you packed. I planned my outfits in advance, but I didn’t take into account just how short this drop shoulder sweater is when I chose the jeans to wear it with! Whoops. This drop shoulder sweater does in fact run short. If you prefer not to show any skin, you could pair it with mid or high rise jeans. The jeans I’m wearing have a lower rise than any other jeans I own. They are super comfy but obviously in danger of showing skin when worn with a short shirt. Lesson learned. I mean we were in San Diego and it was hot, so a bit of skin and some distressing on the jeans works, right?!

drop shoulder sweatshirtThis a called a drop shoulder sweater on the Nordstrom website, but it’s really more of a sweatshirt in my opinion. It has the weight and feel of a sweatshirt, which is one of the reasons I ordered it. It comes in two colors and is just $35! I envision wearing this at the beach this summer with cut off shorts and flip flops. Or, you know, at the pool next time we’re at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar. 😉 In the meantime, it works great with jeans and tennis shoes. The full sleeves remind me of the green Halogen sweatshirt I tried on in this post, but I like this striped one better because I tend to prefer something that doesn’t have a high neckline.

drop shoulder sweatshirtI love these jeans for warmer weather because they are a slim fit, not a skinny fit. Your legs can breathe on a hot day, and of course the giant holes in the knees help with that too. Ha. You might notice that one of the knees has a larger hole than the other. That happened when I was walking in our bedroom and caught the hole on a knob on our armoire. True story. The dangers of distressed denim! You’ve been warned.

drop shoulder sweatshirtMy boys have one more week of school and then a week off. Some districts call it ski week but around here it’s shaping up to be more of a beach week than a ski week. My favorite thing about having a week off is the lack of a schedule. I’m totally good with not having any set plans! We can see how we feel when the time comes and make plans accordingly.

drop shoulder sweatshirtIn the meantime, it’s Friday and a fun weekend is ahead of us! What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Although I can’t shop until Friday, I’m so excited for the sale that I have two blog posts up already, one with curated picks and another with tips and info about how shopping this year will be a little different. Click the link in my profile to check them out. Fun fact: it was over 90 degrees on my wedding day but I convinced the florist that I needed hydrangeas in my bouquet! Thankfully they survived. 😉
