Rain, rain, rain. When I looked at our forecast for the week, I figured I’d better bust out my Hunter boots and warmest sweaters to wear for this cold spell. I tried on this cozy black cardigan last month when it was full price. I loved it then, but couldn’t decide on the color (it also comes in grey, which isn’t currently on sale) and wound up leaving it at the store. When I saw that this cozy black cardigan was on sale, I decided I shouldn’t pass it up any longer!
This cozy black cardigan is super warm without containing any wool. I love the pattern on the sleeves and the shawl collar. Although it doesn’t have a hood, this will be perfect for those wet days when the rain is gone but it’s still super chilly. California’s cold days are pretty mild by the rest of the country’s standards, so I often prefer a warm sweater to a bulky coat. I first tried this on with a ruched dress, which was cute too. You can see that picture here. A basic piece like a black cardigan will go with pretty much anything, so the styling possibilities are endless!
My striped t shirt is pretty old, but similar styles are easy to find because black and white stripes is a classic combination. BP has a reasonably priced one that I’ve been eyeing for awhile now, and it too is on sale! This is a great time of year to stock up on some basic fall/winter pieces as you still have a couple of months to wear them, but prices are lower as stores change out their inventory for spring.
I don’t love being out in the rain, but I do love my red Hunter boots. I was debating about what color to get and I’m so glad that I went with red. A black glossy pair would have been lovely too, but the color is a fun addition to my neutral winter wardrobe. (Note: if you like the black glossy Hunters, I just found them at Nordstrom for 40% off, making them $90! That’s a great price on this rarely marked down item.) I chose the refined style because I have a narrow foot and they are a bit less bulky. You can find the refined ones here, and the classic style here.
It was so nice to have the boys home for a week and not have a schedule. I wish my little one hadn’t gotten sick, but once he was better we still pretty much stayed home. We did go mini golfing on Friday and had the place to ourselves, which was nice. Only 29 days of school until spring break!! š
Sizing note: I originally tried this sweater on in extra small, but I’m wearing a small here. I think that the extra small would be a bit better in the sleeve length (unless you have long arms), but the overall size isn’t that different otherwise.
