I wore this shirt a couple of days ago, and one friend commented that if we could just add Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to the boycott list, it would be the perfect shirt. Weekend forever, baby.
When I practiced law, I was fortunate enough to work for a company that implemented a four day work week for everyone. Monday was my day off and it was the best! There was something special about getting that extra day when everyone else was back to work. I used the time to run errands or catch up on projects around the house. Have you had the misfortunate of going to Costco on a weekend lately? It’s probably good that I had Mondays to grocery shop or we may have lived on take out during those years. As a stay at home mom, I much prefer taking the boys to the store rather than having to go on the weekend. Can you tell that grocery shopping is not my fave?
Yes, I’m wearing white after Labor Day. I don’t know who decided that wasn’t allowed. Here in California, we don’t get much of a winter, so I see no reason to pack the white away. Also, I have never considered myself a rule follower, especially for a seemingly pointless fashion rule like this! I think that if you like something, you should go for it. A confident attitude speaks far louder than the actual clothes you are wearing!
My white jeans were easily adapted for fall with the addition of a long cardigan and booties. I purchased the jeans several years ago at Anthropologie on sale, but I’ve linked an updated version below. The linked jeans have a higher waist which I would probably go for when replacing these. It can be hard for white jeans to look flattering, and the higher waist helps with that. My exact shirt is sold out. I linked a similar one, but really this look would work with any graphic tee. A striped shirt would be fun too. Also, to any of you moms freaking out about wearing white, I have one simple tip: bleach. I remember questioning my friend Carrie years ago about why she was wearing white with a toddler, and she answer that it was intentional because you could bleach away the stains! Brilliant. Sure, they may be a mess by the end of the day, but who cares? That’s what washing machines are for.
This weekend we had soccer, but other than that, we had no plans and it was glorious. We were originally going to be out of town, but we decided not to go since we are heading to Sacramento this weekend to celebrate my mother in law’s birthday. Weekends are definitely our time to recharge and connect as a family, so we try to protect that time as much as possible. When we are able to have a peaceful weekend at home, it makes Monday a little easier. I hope your week is starting out well!
