It feels like a lot of people are over the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and truthfully, I thought about not covering it this year. However, I have been a fan of this sale for years, far before I started this blog. This sale is one of my favorite days of the whole year to shop, and I really enjoy sharing my finds! If you do choose to shop using my links, thank you! I hope you’ll come away from reading this with new ideas for fall outfits. That’s why I do this! You can also check this post from a couple of years ago about my favorite categories to shop during the sale. Ok, let’s get to it. Here are my 2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale dressing room selfies!
First up, easy casual everyday looks
Guys, I finally found a pumpkin colored sweater that works with my skin tone!! This sweater comes in a few colors but I couldn’t resist this one. The fabric is so, so soft. I told my stylist that I needed some new, non distressed jeans, and she delivered! We had fun shopping together. These loafers are a splurge, but dang they are comfy. The suede is so soft and there is simply no need to break them in. My shopping style has definitely changed over the last ten years. These days, I focus on quality over quantity. I’d rather have fewer pieces that I reach for all the time than a bunch of less expensive pieces that I don’t wear or don’t hold up.
I found this brand (La Ligne) last year during the sale. I unfortunately cannot wear wool, which really limits the sweater options! This one is 100% cotton and true to size. I was thinking I’d try sizing up for a slouchier fit (I’m wearing small), but in the end I wound up buying this similar sweater by the same brand because I liked the fit slightly better. I purchased the mule version of this black shoe last year and I LOVE them. So easy to throw on and go in the morning. I ordered the ivory version of the ones in the photo because I know they’ll be a closet staple.
Is there ever a Free People sweater that I don’t like? No, I don’t think there is. But this color!! So good. I did order an extra small just to compare (I’m wearing a small) but either way, it’s a keeper. These sneakers are by HOFF, which is a new to me brand. I’m impressed! They were structured but not stiff, and quite supportive. I didn’t get them because I purchased a similar pair of shoes recently, but I’ll definitely keep these on my radar for future sales. I love the lighter wash of this pair of denim. I’m trying to adjust to styles other than skinny, and I brought home two straight leg pairs! I may have ordered some skinnies though. 😉
This sweater is a great price and so, so soft. I could see using it for lounge or out and about as pictured here. And the white booties! I’ve been eyeing them for a couple seasons now and I think they’ll honestly end up being as versatile as my tennies. And I’m so happy they aren’t a three inch heel! Can I get an amen?!
Some version of this is my fall mom uniform: sweater, jeans, shoes, but make it stylish. I loved the sweater so much that I ordered two other colors! And the shoes!! Again, these are a splurge but an outfit maker. My only quandary was deciding which color to get!!
I can’t remember if this is my third or fourth rails flannel… I buy one every couple of years and I still have my very first one! The quality is excellent and they wash so well. And these colors! I was definitely feeling the blue this year.
A little fancier: work, weekend, date night
This was one of my favorite looks of the day. So effortlessly chic! The top is under $60 and the fabric is buttery soft. It drapes really nicely and hides anything you may want to hide. The shoes are ah-may-zing. While they are a three inch heel, which is as high as I like to go, they are so, comfy. I wore them for quite awhile and could tell they’re gonna be perfect. They are also simple and classic and will last for years to come. There is a less expensive version in the sale that I just ordered to compare. I’ll keep you posted!
I liked both of these tops a lot, but the one on the right just doesn’t photograph well. The colors and print are much prettier in real life, whereas the one on the left will definitely get you noticed! I’m on the fence about which one to keep. Love the dark jeans to instantly dress up a look.
This top could easily go to the office, brunch, date night… so many options! It actually comes in a long sleeve as well as a mock neck too, speaking of options! I bought a similar pair of sandals last year and have worn them a ton. I even wore them Friday when we walked 14,00 steps touring a college campus with friends and they didn’t hurt my feet! So when I saw this year’s version in another color, I knew they would be a good investment. The sole is padded and I love how they look on my foot.
Other cute sweaters and tops
Vince Camuto always has the best casual tops and the one on the left is no exception. The only reason I didn’t buy it is because I bought a nearly identical one earlier this year. Love the sleeve! I did buy the cute Madewell flowy top. The color is perfect and the material is such that it can be dressed up or down.
I missed out on a similar polo style sweater last year so when I saw this sweater (left), I had to try it on! It is crazy soft and I love the oversized fit. It also comes in a gorgeous lavender. I sized down to an extra small. The sweater on the right is cute, but ultimately didn’t come home with me. My store also had it in black.
Style face offs: cardigans, shackets, and plaid
I picked up the sweater on the left when I was browsing in store. I had no idea how expensive it was! It’s really soft and I love the color but I don’t think I’d wear it enough to justify the price. The cardigan on the right is under $50 and such a pretty shade of blue. Sold!
I had high hopes for the Good American shacket (left) but it was just too big!! This is the smallest size my store had and I still didn’t love the fit or the length on me. The plaid one on the right is a better fit, lower price and I love the colors, but I’m still not sure I’m sold on this trend.
My stylist picked out this blazer and while I like it as an outfit finisher, I didn’t love it enough for the price. I’m thinking of ordering this one instead. The plaid pants on the right are way too big and sold out in all sizes at the moment. I loved the idea of them though, and the price, so I’m watching to see if they come back in stock.
Finally, some dresses
I love this dress!! However, on my 5’7″ frame, it borders on too short. I might try sizing up to a medium to see if that gives me enough extra length.
OK so this dress would look better with booties, but by this point in the try on I didn’t want to bother changing shoes again!! The dress is a nice heavy knit, fully lined, and very flattering. It’s priced at $70 and I wound up purchasing the black instead. Is there such thing as too many black dresses? I think not.
